Daniel Morris and Simon Pinner set up a specialist Personal Injury Department for Kingsford Stacey Blackwell (now KSB Law) in 1999. It was described at the time by The Times newspaper as “The law office of the future”. They used the latest technology and a new approach to client care, grow the department rapidly from 3 to 80 staff within two years.
ATE without the paperwork
Simon and Daniel turned their eyes to the ATE Insurance market in 2001. One that was historically problematic, due to the huge amount of administration and the strict rules imposed by the ATE Insurance companies. Their aim was to develop a product specifically designed with the solicitor in mind. It also had to be one that an ATE insurer would back. They eventually achieved their aim, developing a product that KSB Law could use to insure its cases. No lengthy application forms, file reporting or audits were required. The Box Legal After The Event Insurance (ATE Insurance) business was formed in 2002.
The future of ATE Insurance
Daniel and Simon purchased Box Legal from KSB Law In 2003. They opened up their ATE Insurance scheme to other firms of solicitors for the first time.
With further investment in 2004, Box Legal were able to greatly expand the scheme. This enabled them to offer its arrangement services to all Personal Injury firms in the UK.
